Walking Into the Light

Walking Into the Light

Goodbye, my friend
Might be awhile till I see you again
I feel you hold my hand
Don’t worry, you must understand

I’m walking into the light

I see you from up here
It’s not as bad as you think it appears
Let go of the things you fear
When time is near, everything is so clear

I’m walking into the light
I’m walking into the light
I’m walking into the light

I’m walking into the stars
I’m walking into the sun
I’m passing planets one by one

Another door we pass
To start a journey vast
I’m walking to paradise

Hello my friend
It’s so good to see you again
It takes a lifetime to learn these things
When you’re in the light there’s no beginning or end

We’re walking into the light
We’re walking into the light
We’re walking into the light

We’re walking into the stars
We’re walking into the sun
We’re passing planets one by one

Another door we pass
To start a journey vast
We’re walking to paradise

Hello my friend
It’s so good to see you again

The three sweet piano triads that are played when one first hears the lyrics “walking into the light” came to me in a dream. This became the underlying motif of the song. This is when my mind is most active and is common in many of my pieces. I got up early the following morning and quickly recorded a piano track before the melody faded from my brain. I used headphones as not to wake my family. The song took shape a day later with the heavy guitar chords. I do hope the listener will benefit from the lyrics and learn that death is something we should never fear. It is funny that some people say it sounds sad and others say it is upbeat and jubilant. I suppose it all depends on your attitude about life and death.
