When I was in my twenties I discovered this quote. I wrote it on a piece of paper, and kept it in my wallet for reference for many years. The words are still beautiful and true today.
“Nobody sees a flower really; it is so small. We haven’t time, and to see takes time – like to have a friend takes time.”
? Georgia O’Keeffe
Yes, and even if that time were to run through, to completely expire it makes the investment no less worthy. In fact, it probably gives it a poignant value in hindsight.
Very true, Val.
I just printed this out. What a fabulous photograph and inspirational observation…you made my day!!!
Why thank you, West Seventh! I wish I was the author of that photograph… And the quote!
It reminds me of “The Little Prince” by St. Exhubery (not sure of the spelling) who spoke of the ephermeral nature of flowers. You cannot turn away too quickly – the moment you loose sight of the flower, it is gone.
This is a very good observation!
lovely and really precious!
Thank you, Soumyav.
Good quote from Georgia O’Keeffe. Thanks.
I’ve held on to this quote for many years. Thank you.
