Think and Believe

Look around you.  Do you realize that you are where you are because of your very thoughts?

I learned this at a young age. When you think about something, and hold that thought in your mind with conviction that it has already happened, it becomes real.

If I am truly disclosing an ancient secret, why do some people still suffer from bad luck, poverty, and ill health? How can you make your dreams come true? How do you give your life greater purpose?

Let me ask you a question: What do you want?

Take your time, for most people cannot answer this. Of course there will be countless fools who will tell you they want to win the lottery. But what if they did?  Their bank account would be one million dollars higher. Would their life change?  No, because their mission was complete. They received what they wanted.

Contrary to some things I have read, I do not believe wants and desires should be kept secret. In fact, they should glow for others to admire one’s conviction.  It is important to have good intentions.  Saying, “I want to be a doctor,” has no value without wanting to help others. Professing, “I want to write a book,” has no value without wanting others to benefit from one’s words.

Write your want on paper. Make sure it is concise. Does this want benefit you? Does it benefit others?  Can you see your want in your mind? Are you wearing the clothes you want to wear? Talking to the people you want to talk to? Doing business with the people you want to do business with?

It does not matter if you do not know how you will reach your want.  If you have a staircase with twelve steps, you will be able to get to the top of the stairs in twelve steps. Believing in your desire is the same as climbing the steps. The difference is, if you close your eyes and take the same twelve steps, you will still end up at the top of the stairs.

  1. Excellent post and very true – especially like the spin on how what you want should also benefit others. Thanks for the visit to my blog and the follow.

  2. This is a great post! When you write, people who want to become a doctor or a writer should want to help or change others, it is true. I hope many more people consider this before choosing a career of life path. I definitely love consulting a doctor who wants to help, as compared to someone who has chosen their career from selfishness or starvation (not a choice).

  3. Well said. I agree wholeheartedly. I must have visualized something pretty amazing because I am exactly where I want to be with exactly the people I want to be with. If you can think it, it will be made real. Thanks for the post!

  4. I like your whole “if you can think it you can do it” attitude. I agree completely. In fact, I just wrote a post about how sometimes your environment and people around you can get in the way of reaching for your dreams/desires/writing excellence. To me, it’s a matter of clearing out all the extra junk that’s cluttering your mind and life in order to see and get at what you strive for. I love empowering posts like this, great job on it.
