Umbrella Crunch

I had so much fun with this piece that begins with a nasty, dirty, growling, slide on the lower E string. I felt the contrast of the driving introduction combined wonderfully with the sweet chords that follow. There are so many melodic transitions that I hear in my brain that could always be added later, but for now it is short and sweet.

I enjoy art that can be experienced completely and immediately. That is why I love 45-60 second musical pieces and short stories.

This instrumental was used for the video called, “The Photo Shoot” for the Why Mom Deserves a Diamond writing contest.

He found his birth family 35 years later. Then he helped them find a ‘vanished’ sister.

Arika Herron, Indianapolis Star Published 5:14 p.m. ET Aug. 24, 2019. https://www.indystar.com/story/news/2019/08/24/adopted-indianapolis-man-helps-birth-family-find-vanished-sister-muncie/2087285001/\ Everyone in “Diamond” Mike Watson’s life told him he should give up. The baby in the 60-year-old photograph was probably dead. And if she wasn’t, they said, she may not want to be found. It wasn’t out of callousness or apathy. The opposite […]

How I became Diamond Mike

My name has not always been Diamond Mike. In fact, when I was born I never had a name. The name Michael was given to me three days later by a loving woman and man who I would later call mom and dad. I was adopted. I never did meet my birthmother, who died in […]

Police Report

Today I filed a missing persons report for my sister, Debra Kay. It appears there was never such a report filed since she vanished as a child. This will be submitted to the Indianapolis police, where my birthmother was living at the time of her disappearance. I hope the relationships I have forged with my […]

The Anniversary Ring

“You love birds can sit here with me if you want,” the elderly man said to the young couple desperately looking for a vacant breakfast table. “I’ll be leaving soon, and it looks like these are the last empty chairs in the house.” The Garden Terrace was a romantic spot that peered across the Pacific […]

To whom are we praying?

Less than a few hours of oxygen remain on the small submersible that imprisons five passengers in the freezing North Atlantic. Millions of people are praying. Millions of people also believe in the power of prayer.  Surely this concentration of thought will lean toward a positive result. Surely with our focused intention our prayers will […]

Thanks for the follow. I like the song. Had a dream of an opening paragraph for a short story, it was perfect. Keeping pen and pad at bedside, I wrote it down. Next morning I read what I had written….Nothing but scribbles.

I love music… (except yodeling~I just can’t quite get that) I’ve never been without it really.
Either hearing it from my Dad playing in a band or from him playing it on the stereo,
late at night, complete with Mom fussing that she could clearly hear it
despite his being downstairs with ear phones on LOL
    I like this, I like it a lot. 🙂

Thank you so much! It’s exciting when someone appreciates my tunes, and even better when it reminds them of positive things. (Mom’s have super hearing, she probably could hear it from upstairs. :)) Thanks for listening!

Thank you, FlapJack. There is no deep meaning here. I heard the heavy guitar intro in a dream the night before and recorded it the next day. I’m glad you like it.

This is great! Does it have meaning or is it just a great tune?

A very belated thank you, FlapJack. There is no deep meaning here. I heard the heavy guitar intro in a dream the night before and recorded it the next day. I’m glad you like it.
