The Power of Positive Words

How many different ways can a child express his or her appreciation for mom? Perhaps millions. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is how many essays have been submitted to my jewelry store since 1993. I searched for my own birth mother since I was a teenager. I was adopted as a child, and although… Continue reading The Power of Positive Words

The Little Green Toothbrush

It was a long, boring drive to the diamond company's headquarters in Indianapolis. Although the rest of the nation's managers flew in cozy airplanes, the Kansas City supervisor thought he would score points with the president by asking all of his store managers to travel by car.   In the lobby of the Sheraton, the ten… Continue reading The Little Green Toothbrush

The Benefit of Giving

Years ago I remember spending time with my little girl reading children's books.  I’m not sure who enjoyed the stories more but there is one tale I will never forget.  It was called, "Milo and the Magical Stones." Milo was a mouse that lived on an island with other mice. He discovered a beautiful, shiny,… Continue reading The Benefit of Giving

I am Sworn to Be Your Servant

"I am sworn to be your servant," Eve said to Daniel after they slaughtered the Zafcat.  The Zafcat rose it's giant claw for the single slash of Daniel's throat when Eve came from behind and penetrated the hairy beast with her sword. For an orphaned slave girl, Eve possessed an unnatural beauty and grace even… Continue reading I am Sworn to Be Your Servant

Shykor and the Giant Flawless Diamond

Shykor drew his golden sword from his sheath and stabbed it into the sky.  The bright sun reflected a beam of yellow from the polished plastic. The handle was encrusted with crystal rhinestones, but looked like ocean blue sapphires and pigeon blood rubies set in a platinum halo. Around Shykor's neck hung the Giant Flawless,… Continue reading Shykor and the Giant Flawless Diamond

The Large Diamond Sale

Diamond Mike Watson felt a sort of uneasiness as he sat facing Drew Damon across from the small wooden table in the diamond room.  The diamond room was a soundproof, two-person chamber intended to be a private area that stood cozily in the corner of Gallery of Diamonds jewelers, but when two men are negotiating… Continue reading The Large Diamond Sale
